The Operational Use of Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) 1.27

Scope:


This course is designed in compliance with the requirements for basic training in the use of (ECDIS) led by the Captains and Deck Officers in charge of the navigational watch, based on the Rules II/1 Section A-II/1 Table A-II/1, referring to the use of electronic navigational the International Convention of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers STCW 1978 as amended.

 

Goals:


The participant after the course should recognize that situations to use ECDIS mode selection and appropriate in the circumstances set points, and to ensure optimal use of computer to its best advantage; also know the limitations of the equipment in target detection and terms of accuracy. So also consider the need for continued vigilance and monitoring of hazards that may pose potential risks of collision.Under the provisions of the Maritime Authority of Panama through the Directorate of Seafarers, all participants who successfully complete the course will be issued a certificate stating that it has complied with the formation of “Displacement System ECDIS Electronic Chart” as established by the International Convention of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers STCW 1978 as amended.
