Personal Survival Techniques at Sea 1.19

Scope:
This course was designed in compliance with regulation VI/1 section A-VI/1, and table A- VI/1-1 of the International Convention on standards of training, certification and Watchkeeping for sea STCW/78, as amended.

General objectives:

  • Apply the proper procedure during evacuation, or abandon ship, or rescue a person who fell into the sea.
  • Apply appropriate measures to the own survival and that of others in the event of abandonment of the ship.
  • Correct use of survival equipment.

Prerequisites:
This course is primarily designed to provide basic training to seafarers employed or engaged to perform any task on board a ship, who has been assigned security features related to the usage of the ship. No specific educational requirement is required. All students must obtain a medical certificate attesting that she or he is in good health.

Entry Standards
For the admission to the course, seafarers must be certified by a doctor to be in a good health.
