Company Security Officer 3.20

Scope:
This course meets the requirements of knowledge of the person to be appointed to the duties and responsibilities of an officer of the Company for Maritime Security (CSO), as defined in the XI‐2 Chapter of SOLAS 1974, paragraph A / 2.1 0.7 Part a of the ISPS Code, and in particular the tasks and responsibilities for ship security, to ensure the development of the evaluation of ship security, to ensure the development, implementation, maintenance and updating of the plan ship security and communication with the ship security officer (SSO) and protection officers Port Facility (PFSO).

General Objectives:
Participants who complete this course should be able to undertake the duties and responsibilities of the Ship Security Officer, as defined in section A / 11.2 of the ISPS Code, which include, but are not limited to:

  1. Notify the level of threats likely to be encountered by the ship, using appropriate protection and any other information relevant assessments
  2. Ensure that assessments on the ship can be performed.
  3. Ensuring the development, submission for approval and then the implementation and maintenance of the Ship Security Plan
  4. Ensure that the Ship Security Plan is appropriately modified, corrected deficiencies and satisfied the requirements of individual protection vessel
  5. Arrangements for internal audits and reviews of security activities
  6. According to the initial and subsequent verifications of the ship by the Administration or the Recognized Organization Protection
  7. Ensuring that deficiencies and non‐conformities identified during internal audits, periodic reviews, security inspections and verifications of compliance are addressed promptly and on time
  8. Enhance knowledge and protection monitoring
  9. Ensuring adequate training for personnel responsible for security of the ship
  10. Ensure effective communication and cooperation between the Ship Security Officer Security Officers and Port Facility
  11. Ensure consistency between the requirements of the protection and protection requirements
  12. Ensuring that, if the Ship Security Plans twin or fleet are used, the plan for each ship reflects the ship‐specific information accurately
  13. Ensuring that any alternative or equivalent arrangement approved for a particular ship or group of ships are implemented and maintained.

Prerequisites
It is assumed that those attending this course will be persons employed (or to be employed) by a company and are likely to be designated as the official security company. However, no specific entry requirements are anticipated.
